Discover the story about the Dutch Delft Blue Birds Tile from the Rijksmuseum Collection

This blue bird tile tableau was made in the 17th or 18th century in the Netherlands. It is created from hand-painted Delftware tiles, using cobalt blue on white glazed ceramic.

These decorative panels were made to adorn the interiors of wealthy homes and often feature nature scenes symbolising beauty and harmony.

Today, this type of work can be seen in the collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
