Discover the story of Claude Monet's Water Lilies

Claude Monet’s Water Lilies series was painted between 1899 and 1926 in his garden at Giverny, France. He worked in oil on canvas, using loose brushstrokes to capture light, colour, and reflection on the surface of the water.

Inspired by his own carefully designed garden, Monet focused on the pond with water lilies as a way to study changing atmospheres throughout the day. These paintings became a deeply personal exploration of nature, light, and tranquillity.

Today, important works from the series are displayed at the Musée de l’Orangerie in Paris.
