Vincent van Gogh painted Irises in 1889, while he was staying at the asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France. He created it using oil on canvas, with expressive brushstrokes and vibrant colour contrasts.

Van Gogh painted this work as part of his deep connection with nature, finding comfort and inspiration in the garden and surrounding landscape during a difficult period in his life.

Today, Irises can be seen at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
