Discover the story about Henri Matisse's Artwork Blue Nude II

Blue Nude II is a work by Henri Matisse, created in 1952, during the final years of his life. Due to illness, he was no longer able to paint in the traditional way, so he developed his famous gouaches découpées technique: painted paper cut-outs assembled into a collage.

The artwork depicts a stylized female figure, reduced to bold, flowing shapes in deep blue. It reflects Matisse’s search for simplicity, color, and pure form.

The original work is part of the collection of the Centre Pompidou in Paris, where it is occasionally on display.
