The Vitruvian Man was created around 1490 in Milan, Italy.

It is a pen and ink drawing on paper, with light sketching and precise anatomical study.

Leonardo made it to explore the ideal proportions of the human body, based on the writings of the Roman architect Vitruvius, combining art, science, and mathematics.

It was created as a personal study, not for a specific client.

Today, the original drawing is kept in the Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice, Italy, and is rarely exhibited due to its fragility.
