Vincent van Gogh painted Sunflowers in 1888–1889 in Arles, France, using oil on canvas with bold, expressive brushstrokes.

He created these paintings to express friendship, gratitude, and hope, originally as decoration for the room of his friend Paul Gauguin. His inspiration came directly from nature, especially the simple beauty of sunflowers in different stages of life.

Today, Sunflowers can be seen in major museums, including the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam and the National Gallery in London.
